Mapsource 6.13.7 Zip Free Download

Anyone able to provide install file (zip?) for MapSource 6.13.7? Supposedly that version works best under WINE on Linux but I can't find it to install. Torrent is no help. Have 6.13.6, but it is clunky. Download Garmin Mapsource 6.13.7 Download - best software for Windows. Garmin MapSource: Now you can plan and organize trips with MapSource, a very useful computer software. MapSource is included with the purchase of a Garmin map.

I ordered my 2009 update from Garmin yesterday and the Customer Service Rep. told me that mapsource is free for the download.
Is this on the level? I cannot find anything on the Garmin website that would suggest this.

It will come with the update you ordered, no need to download it, as far as I know.
  • If I downloaded the Update 2009 instead of the DVD would I need to contact support to get a copy of MapSource? I just D/L'ed the free update. Thanks!
    Bill....

    Thanks, Tim. That answers that!
    It's appreciated.
  • I downloaded the 2009 update last week. MapSource is not part of it AFAIK - I already had a copy from buying the US Topo DVD. The new City Navigator 2009 maps became available on my PC after I finished installing them on my Nuvi.
However, on the Mac you can download the beta version of 'Bobcat' which is their answer for Mapsource. Still a little rough around the edges, but it's improving with each update. http://www8.garmin.com/macosx/

I had trouble with this at first as well, but ultimately figured it out. I chose to download the 2009 map update vs having them send the DVD. It installed the update, but MapSource was not part of this. I then went to the Garmin Support site and could only find MapSource updates and not the entire program. Although the site specifically said these were updates and warned that you needed to already have a MapSource product in order to install the update, the update installed and worked just fine.
I found it on the Garmin site under Support | Updates & Downloads | Mapping Programs. I chose to install the 6.13.7 version. There is a beta for a newer version but I wanted to minimize the chances of dealing with bugs as I cut my teeth on learning the software.
  • This is a GREAT post.
The 'update' does install on a PC without any 'original' Mapsource.
Now folks like us who downloaded the 2009 map can get Mapsource without the hassle of calling Garmin !!!!
Is the map information built-in into the Mapsource download?
How can you tell if the map shown in Mapsource is the 2009 version?

This is very interesting because I see this question coming up in various places - thanks for posting. However, read the notes a little more carefully. What is actually says is:
WARNING: This software will not work unless you already own a MapSource product.
Note the word 'product' instead of 'program' as you said. I think you met this criterion because you DID have a Mapsource product: City Navigator 2009.
  • Right.
As I am learning, I did have the City Navigator 2009 product in C:GarminCNNANT2009 directory when I applied the map update. But, till today, the conventional wisdom was that folks like me who downloaded the map update had to call Garmin and ask for Mapsource (on CD).
However, Zorker's post told us that we can download Mapsource and don't need to call Garmin if we had applied the map update.
    That was news to me.
  • Yep, sorry Boyd, that's what I meant - product instead of program. In fact, it was that very wording that led me to try what I did. I thought, 'I wonder if it considered the map update I ran as a valid 'product'. I'll go back and edit my post so as not to confuse others.
In the end I'm just glad it worked. We have a vacation starting next weekend and I would like to use MapSource to help plan the trip. Waiting for a DVD in the mail seems so barbaric! lol
  • Also, for alokeprasad - You can see the map version that Mapsource is using by choosing Help | About and then clicking on the 'Product Info...' button.

You are half right. The download of Mapsource WILL NOT work unless you have a previous version installed. Apparently when you download the 2009 maps and install them there is something in the download that the Mapsource accepts as a previous version. I downloaded Mapsource and it wouldn't install. Got a message saying Previous version of Mapsource not found. Setup will terminate.
  • He was speaking in the context of those who downloaded and installed the 2009 map update. For those who did, the 'upgrade' version of Mapsource you download from the Garmin downloads area will work just fine.
  • If you have an old copy of Trip & Waypoint, Topo ... install it then install the new Mapsource on top of it.
