With announcements that KH3 has gone gold, and interviews hinting that we might see something of the remake in 2019, I’ve been thinking a lot about this game and it’s characters.
When I thought about Cloud and (current) canonical journey he goes on post FF7, there is one thing he never does that I feel he should, and that is becoming a first class SOLDIER.
In Advent Children, Reno suggests working together to rebuild Shinra - now Shinra WAS a pseudo-antagonist throughout FF7 so the idea of Cloud joining them feels wrong. But perhaps he could be the change it would need, and I like the idea of them recreating that scene from Crisis Core after Zack inherits the buster sword and tells the 3rd classes, “Embrace your dreams, and whatever happens.. protect your honor.”
As a young boy with a dream to be first class SOLDIER, a hero/combatant like no other, and paying homage to Zack, the man who scarificed his life and dreams so Cloud could live.. I believe this would be a happy ending to a character seeking to fulfill his individual dreams, and make proud those who helped him get there.
